Dental Veneers vs. Dental Bonding

Fresno Dentist Serving Madera, Clovis, Visalia, Tulare & Nearby Areas in California

Porcelain veneers and dental bonding can be used to address many of the same cosmetic dental problems. However, each offers unique benefits and neither is ideally suited for every individual. During your initial consultation, Fresno cosmetic dentist Dr. Gregory Miyake will carefully assess your smile and listen to all of your concerns. This will enable him to better determine which of these options is best for you.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are placed over the front of teeth to address cosmetic malocclusion, chips and cracks, and severe discoloration. Custom made to match the shape, size, and color of adjacent teeth, the process for placing veneers can take two to three weeks. Once placed, veneers can produce pleasing results for several years.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is applied to the surface of teeth and can be used for the same cosmetic issues as veneers. Bonding can also be used for functional issues including large cavities and broken teeth.

The dental bonding process is quick and can typically be completed in a single office visit, though more than one may be necessary when addressing several teeth. Like veneers, bonding is colored, shaped, and sized to fit seamlessly into your smile, but touchups may be required to maintain results for longer than a few years.
