If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of gum disease, please call <a href=559-224-0103 to schedule a consultation with Fresno dentist Dr. Gregory Miyake today" src="/sites/" style="width: 300px; height: 200px; margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px; float: right;" />Two new studies have further solidified links between gum disease and serious systemic illness. The first, conducted in conjunction with the Women's Health Initiative Observational Study, found that postmenopausal women with gum disease were at an increased risk for breast cancer. The second, a meta-analysis of the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, found that people with chronic kidney disease are more likely to die of complications when gum disease is also present.

Results from these studies are far from surprising. Gum disease has long been linked to kidney failure as well as cancer of the esophagus, lungs, and pancreas. Gum disease is also linked to heart attack and stroke, hypertension, liver damage, dementia, and complications with pregnancy, all of which make seeking treatment at the first indication of this oral health problem very important.

Fresno dentist Dr. Gregory Miyake offers deep gum cleanings for the treatment of mild to moderate gum disease. These cleanings remove calculus and tartar from below the gum line to help reduce inflammation and eliminate infection.

If your gums are red and swollen or bleed easily when brushed, it is vital – perhaps literally – that you contact Gregory G. Miyake, DDS online or by calling 559-224-0103 today to schedule a consultation and learn about your treatment options. Dr. Miyake serves Clovis, Tulare, Madera, and surrounding areas from our conveniently located office in Fresno.
